Joan joined WHCA in the fall of 2015, after working for Denver area's HealthONE hospitals for over 23 years. She began her career as a labor & delivery nurse in 1987. She moved to the metro area first as a travel nurse in 1990, and permanently in 1992. She earned her Masters degree from Regis University in 1996 as a Perinatal Nurse Practitioner, and because of her interest in perinatal fetal diagnosis and care, she became a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer for OB/GYN in 2000. She also is Nuchal Translucency & Nasal Bone imaging certified through the Fetal Medicine Foundation. She was instrumental in opening the Antepartum Fetal Evaluation Unit at the Medical Center of Aurora, as well as the moving/remodel & implementation of the Perinatal Ultrasound Unit at Presbyterian/St. Lukes Medical Center. She has worked closely with the Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians of Obstetrix Medical Group throughout her time with HealthONE.
Joan enjoys providing compassionate & knowledgeable care to our patients, with an expertise in normal & high-risk OB, as well as gynecology. She is a member of the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and the American Institute for Ultrasound in Medicine.
She is married with 2 sons. She enjoys reading, touring around Colorado, traveling in general, and spending time with friends & family. Fun facts: she holds the 2009 ATA Colorado State Champion titles for her age/rank in Sparring, Weapons and Form; and she met her husband while flying trapeze!
